help you to transform blank walls and generic spaces into immersive experiences that bring joy, peace or conversation.
Every design is hand-drawn, hand painted and thoughtfully composed, made just for you.

My Pattern Design Process
Tiny Giraffe celebrates the spirit of travel and the places we leave our hearts.
Destinations, maps, buildings, bridges, flowers and hand lettering features heavily in my work.
When I create a pattern from scratch, I take my inspiration from my travels (both near and far), even my own backyard. It could be a windswept day at the beach, or my dreamy holiday in Bali.
When I create custom patterns for you, I love to learn about you in our initial briefing meeting. I can't wait to share your story through the artwork, so that your artwork is unique to you. You might like to adopt Tiny Giraffe's theme 'the spirit of travel' or something specific and meaningful to you, your business or the product you're creating.
I typically create a moodboard and colour palette, to make sure we're on the same page in terms of colours, objects, scale and theme. I then create 2 concept sketches for you to review.
You choose your favourite concept (or perhaps it's two merged together) and provide any feedback. From there, I'll create the pattern!
Once the pattern is ready, I prepare a mockup and arrange a wallpaper sample for you. You have one final opportunity to review the artwork so it's perfect for you.
Finally, I arrange printing and installation - done for you.

How Long Does Custom Wallpaper Take ?
Sustainable Practice
I work with premium, non-woven, paste-the-wall wallpapers that are commercial grade and fire rated.
I use a dedicated Australian wallpaper print house that sources durable wallpaper made from 30% recycled materials, 70% renewable cellulose fibres and can be recycled. It is free of lead, heavy-metals and ozone depleting chemicals.
My wallpaper samples and wallpaper orders are made to order and printed on demand. There is minimal wastage as I design every panel to fit your wall dimensions.
Metallic Wallpaper
Many of my clients who fall in love with my gold foil fine art prints and have requested metallic wallpaper.
I have worked tirelessly with printing suppliers to achieve metallic wallpaper and am excited to have samples ready to show you!
Printed right here in beautiful Brisbane, using state-of-the-art printing technology, they are a luxury, bespoke finish that will impress everyone who sees it. Metallic wallpaper reflects light and brings elegance and delight into your space.
As far as I am aware, I am the only wallpaper designer in Australia offering custom designed metallic wallpaper murals! Stand out and become one of the first to have this special finish in your home or office.
I also work with frosted film, so if you have glass windows or doors that would benefit from artful screening and privacy, I can help with that too.
Custom Wallpaper Process

1. Briefing Meeting
Meeting you, listening to your stories and/or learning about your business is my favourite part!
Collaboration and connection are everything to me.
Together we'll discuss all the ideas and options available to you for your space. This includes art style, colours, level of design detail plus wallpaper types and finishes that align with your budget.
I love to work alongside interior designers and understand their selections, furniture and finishes so that your space is cohesive and considered.

4. Wallpaper Printing
I prepare the files for printing by dividing your artwork into panels.
Each wallpaper panel features a unique design, that when joined together form to make the entire mural.
Your custom wallpaper is a beautiful, premium matte finish that is perfect for elegant homes and showcasing businesses who offer high end products and professional services.
2. Concept Sketches
I create 2-3 concept sketches based on our initial briefing meeting.
Despite being loose and sketchy, my concept sketches clearly illustrate my vision for the artwork and how it looks applied to your wall/s and proportions. Your concept sketches will clearly demonstrate my proposed layout, motifs/elements and colours.
I will ask you to review the concept sketches and choose your favourite for me to refine! Please request any changes at this stage to ensure you are happy with the direction. I allow for up to 2 reviews at this stage - it is important to get it right at this stage before I start the artwork.

5. Wallpaper Installation
Your wallpaper mural will be installed by a professional wallpaper installer to ensure each wallpaper panel aligns as closely as possible and the mural appears seamless. I have some tips and tricks on how I achieve this.
I coordinate the installation for you - I have curated a list of professional wallpaper installers for major cities across Australia.
If you are based outside of Australia, I ship the wallpaper directly to you.

3. Creating the Artwork
My line art is hand drawn on the iPad and desktop computer. The artwork is created in 1:1 scale within the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). This means no stretched images, poor resolution or pixelation.
My watercolours are hand painted, scanned in high resolution and merged with the digital artwork. Blending vector and raster art at large scale is an artform in itself.
Similar to commissioning a painting, many hours go into the creation of my hand drawn line art, hand painted watercolour and hand lettering pieces. You get another opportunity to review the artwork.

6. Photography & Marketing
In my sister business, Kylie Harber Photography, I specialise in creative branding photography.
If you would like professional photos of your beautiful new wallpaper or team/group photos, please let me know!
I often work with marketing teams to help them re-use the artwork, illustrations or patterns in their branding and products.

Choosing a Wallpaper Designer
When you choose me - Kylie - as your artist and wallpaper designer, it's important that you love my art style, so you get the very best result possible!
Have a browse through my portfolio to get a feel for my art style. My artworks have been described as elegant, feminine and detailed.
I love to draw delicate line art - all types - from crisp and smooth to loose, sketchy lines. I love to paint watercolours, from little travel inspired vignettes to colourful abstract washes and strokes. I love to incorporate my organic hand lettering for words of affirmation that speak to your heart.
I listen very carefully to my clients.
It's important to me that you feel comfortable to ask any questions you like, can open up to me about your dreams for the space and experience the maximum amount of joy in the process.
Our briefing meeting is the perfect time to share your story - I tease out as much I can and that helps me to create aligned art concepts that will make you feel as if we've been friends forever.
I try to make it as simple and easy as can be, taking care of the entire process for you - idea to artwork to printing and installation. If your project needs to go to tender, I can provide a provisional sum for your client and/or separate design from printing and install.
In order for me to provide you with a quote, please send through an email or enquiry with all the information you can think of (wall dimensions, ideas, colours, themes, budget) so we can arrange a time to meet in person (or over zoom) to discuss your ideas in greater detail and I can provide an obligation free quote.
